Platform Vision & Strategic Charter
Wrote the Platform Pod's 2026 Strategic Charter and roadmap after Platform was added to my scope in November 2025 — identifying identity, access, tenant lifecycle, auditability, and automation as the core gaps standing between SpotDraft and enterprise and AI-native readiness, then leading the team against that plan.

Challenge
Platform work was largely reactive: support requests and one-off fixes, without a shared view of what enterprise customers and AI-native product surfaces would actually require, or which of the many possible bets mattered most.
Approach
I wrote the charter around three pillars: reliability and performance first (removing single points of failure and database-as-a-queue patterns), then shared engineering leverage (modular frontend libraries, a generic automation engine, a universal search platform, a bulk-operations standard), then enterprise and AI readiness. That third pillar is where I worked out, ahead of most of the roadmap being built, that explicit tenant ownership, an OpenFGA-based authorization layer, a reworked multi-workspace identity model, and an AI-agent identity and tool-registry layer (service principals and an MCP tool registry) were the specific primitives enterprise and agentic product surfaces would need — not just faster delivery on existing features.
Outcome
The document became the Platform Pod's adopted 2026 Strategic Charter, with named owners against each pillar and success metrics (DB CPU, Lighthouse score, build velocity, and framework adoption). It is the reference the team plans quarters against, and it directly seeded the OpenFGA and multi-workspace tenant-ownership programs.
What it taught
Writing the roadmap before the team starts building it is what turns a list of reactive fixes into a coherent bet: naming identity and access as the shared blocker behind multi-workspace, OpenFGA, and AI-agent tooling made it obvious those three should be sequenced together instead of scheduled as unrelated projects.
